Day: Citizen's breakfast

  • Open and successful exchange in autumn

Open and successful exchange in autumn

An open Group meeting was held today, to which all interested citizens were invited. The aim of the meeting was to provide transparent information on current topics from the municipal bodies, to prepare for the upcoming municipal council meeting and to take suggestions from the citizens.

    News from the committees

We looked at the last Council meeting in mid-June back. On some open issues, including drainage (parallel to Dr. Domarus-Straße) – there is currently no new state of play. We ask the administration and hope for an answer in the Construction Committee on 12 November or in Municipal Council on 19 November – no agenda has yet been published for both meetings.

In the open group meeting, the committees' topics were also raised: The Culture Committee deals with important dates, including fair planning, citizens' breakfast and Youth Day. We continue to collect suggestions from the citizenry to improve processes at events. For example, there are suggestions for improvement for the senior afternoon, such as organization and the selection of drinks.

Other points from our public meeting:

    • We suggest a suitable location for the book phone booth. The idea of designing the telephone booth by young people (We reported) is to be implemented.
    • The use of communal spaces and locking systems has been criticised. We're going after it.
    • The opening of the library took place, which we found very successful. We commend the library team very much.

Preparing for the next council meeting

We have already collected and prepared topics for the upcoming Council meeting, including:

    • Industrial area: Potential analysis and file inspection in existing reports. The Central and Financial Committee has granted a new opinion as an investment in the budget.
    • Information from citizens on the critical traffic situation – here the intersection of cycle paths: In the context of road safety, we call on the administration to arrange for the road construction load carrier (probably state-owned mobility company here) to examine measures.

    General information from the place

In conclusion, current developments in the municipality were summarized:

    • The primary school in Dernbach will be expanded to ensure a full-day offer.
    • A new siren was installed at the end of the road ‘Im Wehrholz’.
    • The no-hold zones around the Raiffeisen-Gymnasium are still not sufficiently complied with. We ask the administration if and what measures are foreseen.
    • The joints of the village well were repaired with synthetic resin.
    • Several sacked places in the local area – including Kirchvor- and Rathausplatz – have to be repaired.
    • The expansion of the fiberglass work continues to be unreliable, a decrease in the work is still pending, as a representative reported.

Finally, citizens were invited to contribute their ideas for village development. The exchange clearly demonstrated the importance to many of strengthening community life, better coordination of events and open dialogue within the community.

Together for Dernbach plans to maintain public group meetings at intervals of about three months. We hope to be able to continue to use the Council Hall for this purpose, for which we have worked very hard. We will announce the dates for 2026 here as soon as possible.

  • Citizen's breakfast under the linden trees: Experience community in the sunshine

Citizen's breakfast under the linden trees: Experience community in the sunshine

Last Sunday, the square under the lime trees was transformed into a lively meeting place for the community: More than 100 citizens followed the invitation to the citizens’ breakfast – in bright sunshine, in a good mood and with a rich breakfast table.

In a relaxed atmosphere we laughed, talked and enjoyed the time together. A heartfelt thank you goes to the Beethoven Dernbach choral family, which provided refreshment with chilled drinks, as well as the DLRG Playmobile, which thrilled the children with play and fun.

The 1st Associates Gerhard Prochnow (CDU) greeted the guests with a few introductory words before everyone rushed into the cozy get-together.

Thanks to the active commitment of the choir family, our community workers and several members of the municipal council, the set-up and dismantling went smoothly. A successful example of what is possible through local cooperation.

We are already looking forward to the next citizens’ breakfast – for even more exchange, proximity and community.

  • Council meeting of 18 June 2025

Council meeting of 18 June 2025

Last Wednesday, the most recent meeting of the municipal council took place. This was discussed and decided in the public session.

TOP 1: Announcement of decisions taken in closed session

This point was omitted due to the lack of guests present.

Item 2: Drainage management - Decision adopted unanimously

The municipal council unanimously approved the planned relocation of a drainage line. The drainage is to run parallel to Dr. Domarus Street. In the discussion, Roswitha posed the question of whether the drainage corrects the cause of the moisture and is effective, especially since the terrain was rather dry before the sewer works.
The mayor explained that water is now regularly collected at this point. The aim is not to lower the groundwater as a whole, but only to discharge superficial congestion specifically through drainage with drains.
A member of the CDU Council supported the measure, as did Manuel, who considered the course of the planned drainage to be useful on the basis of the topography. In the absence of expertise and further information in the Council's proposal, only the planning approach of the experts can be trusted.
The local mayor added that there was a problem with the previous drainage – for example, the water from the upper field is currently flowing directly into the rain retention basin.

TOP 3: Amendment of the Cemetery Statute – unanimously adopted

The Council unanimously adopted a revised cemetery statute. What is new, in particular, is that the costs for the preparation of the grave have now been officially recorded.
Roswitha asked whether §15(1) was deleted – that is not the case. Instead, the name ‘Urnenrasengrab’ has been clarified: It is now called ‘Urnenrasenreihegrab’.
Stainless steel signs are created by a local supplier.
Stefan asked if the municipality also offers funeral services. The mayor made it clear: The municipality only provides the burial places – the entrustment of a burial place is carried out by the relatives.
A CDU council member inquired about a possible reappointment of a undertaker by the municipality. The local mayor informed that a call for tenders is planned. In this respect, Alessa clarified that only contracts for excavation (for excavation between municipalities and the contractor) are made. There is no village-own undertaker, as everyone can choose the undertaker freely.

    TOP 4: Communications and enquiries

    • Walk to the hospital: The mayor announced to gravel the footpath from the former fairground in the direction of Peter-Dausenau-Straße / Brückenstraße.
    • Park area: Once again, the mayor expressed his desire to plan a small park in this area. This would also be in line with the development plan.
    • Parking regulations Kirchstraße: The municipality plans to apply for a three-hour parking scheme.
    • Care of the footpaths: A member of the CDU council suggested cutting back the vegetation on two heavily overgrown footpaths. The mayor stressed that he would examine the responsibility for this.
    • Parking behaviour: There was a general discussion about the parking behavior in the place, especially in confusing or dangerous places.
    • Burgweg: The Department of Public Order regularly monitors the area. However, the number of administrative offences imposed is in the low range. Due to the marking work carried out, it is possible to work here in a more targeted and legally secure manner.
    • Citizen's breakfast: Alessa reminded that the construction was to be organized. Some members of the council agreed to take action.
  • Citizen's breakfast under the linden trees

Citizen's breakfast under the linden trees

The Cultural Committee cordially invites all citizens to the joint citizens' breakfast and hopes that many will follow the invitation and support a lively village community. A bouncy castle is available for the little ones. [Update: According to information in the municipal council, the bouncy castle is unfortunately not available].

In order to be able to provide enough tables and benches, we ask for feedback on how many people participate:
